Recondita Armonia (hidden harmony)
My subject matter is inspired by an experience or an observation. The images in my pictorial stories are suggestions painted from various view points. They are permutations and time lapsed. These pictures depict ordinary life. As the initial attraction to a particular person, place, and or object is exciting, I am most interested in the unveiling process that always yields a different conclusion.
I have indexed some of my genres on this site ( on India, landscape, still life, etc. ) to assist your personal exploration of my work.
Upon returning to India after thirty-nine years, I found many changes and yet many things have remained the same. I am no stranger to this land, and so, I am changed. I have begun to record these observations with the study of the Pushkar Camel Faire. Horses as well as camels are traded at this annual festival.
These landscapes capture light changes and harmonic patterns as well as human interactions with the natural world.
The still life format allows me to explore the relationships of space and force between objects. I found new models while shopping at my local farmers's market. They began as still life, and through studying them individually, I began to view this work as portraiture.
I grew up in Atlantic City. My father told me I would never get the sand out of my shoes. In 2011, I began my wave studies investigating the natural forces affecting our lives. The absence of horizon and shore allows each person to create their own scale and force.
My relief work develops from and utilizes found materials. This non-traditional approach propels my search in finding new lines in a two-dimensional format.
Previous works will appear from time to time. These different painting periods, sketch books, and prints may assist you in the understanding and relationship of my work. I welcome your responses. d
